Environmental Impact

Andreia Anjos is a portuguese girl from a small village in Portugal called Sever do Vouga. She is 23 years old and was born in Aveiro, the best city of Portugal. She lived for 22 years in a small village in Portugal called Sever do Vouga.

She finished her master’s degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering in September 2019 and currently works in the United Kingdom in a company called Smart Separations Ltd. Her role is environmental and chemical engineer in the company, which sometimes is challenging, since her studies were not totally in the environmental field.

She talks a lot and loudly, which sometimes her friends and colleagues don't appreciate. Usually she is a happy person that tries to see the positive side of everything. Strong personality, very direct and honest, which sometimes can generate a few problems.

Her hobbies are mainly watching movies and reading books with meaning, however exercise is not for her.

Name a favourite scientist, inventor or researcher and tell us why you like them?

Marie Curie, because she was a pioneer in several experiments and was the first woman to win a nobel prize. I learned about her at the university and the name stayed in my memory because it makes me proud of women.

What do you think is the most interesting area of research for the future? (Yes, it’s broad).

Technology and environment. Technology because the world is increasingly modern and technological. Environment because we’re increasingly realizing that we have to take care of it.

What gadget or piece of technology are you most excited by?

To be honest I am not a big fan of technology, but maybe 3D printing technology. It is amazing how much you can do with that.

If you could put SSL’s filter in anything, where would you put it?

In something that everyone uses.

Which book have you given away the most. Why?

I am still reading it. The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe. It talks about the smallest librarian in the world in a small school made in Auschwitz by a Jewish. It is a real and heart breaking story.

I like to work at Smart Separations because of the environment that we have in the office; fun and hard working when needed.
