Carina is the Business Development Associate at Smart Separations. Before joining the company, she worked as a translational research manager at Action on Hearing Loss and University College London, liaising globally with academics, biotech and pharma companies, clinicians, investors and patients to promote innovation. Carina negotiated and established partnerships to accelerate innovation in the hearing loss therapeutics sector and managed a non-dilutive fund of £300k/year to fund projects from academia and small and medium enterprises. Prior to this, Carina worked in IP protection, carrying out prior art searches and due diligence processes for the Technology Transfer Office of Imperial College London.
Carina is a PhD with ten years of international experience in different areas of biomedical research: human reproduction, malaria infection, cell and molecular biology and hearing loss. She has also been involved in the implementation and management of social projects and networking organizations in Portugal, France, Argentina and UK.
