Name a favourite scientist, inventor or researcher and tell us why you like them?

Hugo Macedo. It’s a bit bizarre to big up your colleague to such an extent when there are so many incredible scientists that have impacted the world. I’m always excited by potential and I know not just what we are working on, but what is to come is so revolutionary I find it impossible to see beyond that.

What do you think is the most interesting area of research for the future? (Yes, it’s broad).

The issue with Coronavirus is so immediate: how do we both respond to this virus and be prepared for future ones. I love the future and the shape of what is to come, and this has a wide and far reaching impact on all the strands of society I find fascinating.

Fun Filtration Facts

Juice with or without pulp/bits? (i.e. filtered or unfiltered)

Juicy bits. Nothing like a good zing from a fresh orange juice maker and of course you need the bits in it.

Do you filter your coffee? If so how do you take it? (moka pot, espresso machine, french press etc.)

Black filter coffee, day to day. A little too much of it perhaps. And then a flat white if I’m feeling a little luxurious and self indulgent; aka coffee house with a crisp new book or an unwrapped moleskine notebook and new pen.

Where/what was the best water you ever tasted? (i.e. tap water in Lisbon or Volvic water etc.)

Dunn’s River Falls in Jamaica. Take me back there now. Lush.

What’s the freshest air you’ve ever experienced? (i.e. on a mountain in the Pyrenees).

Next to my son, when he lets one rip.

If you could put SSL’s filter in anything, where would you put itIf you had to get rid of one tiny particle, which would it be? (i.e. cat hair, pollen)

SARS-CoV-2.

If your air purifier had to emit an odour instead of absorbing them, which smell would you choose?

Depends which room it was in. My sons… well then it’s revenge. Mine, fresh cut grass.
