Sêr Cymru – Tackling COVID-19. This is a collaborative project with the University of Oxford and Cardiff to develop a mathematical model of the transmission of COVID-19 in closed spaces, in the presence and absence of antimicrobial coatings on surfaces and air filters.
Innovate UK - The Sustainable Innovation Fund. This funding supports the development of biodegradable and recyclable antimicrobial stickers. Smart Stickers are a low-cost and easy solution to functionalize surfaces, making them antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.
Collaboration with CTCV (PT) in the development of a depolymerization and sintering process for ceramic membranes with oriented porosity.
Innovate UK - Business led Innovation in response to Global Disruption. This grant supported the efficacy and safety assessment of SSL´s personal air sanitizer, Gino.
Graduate internship grant from the Royal Society of Chemistry.
We got assigned to the Norte 2020 project to develop a technical solution to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
We got assigned to the Compete 2020 project in which we will help to develop technical solutions to stop SARS-CoV-2. This is a collaborative project with the University of Coimbra and the Technological Centre of Ceramic and Glass in Coimbra to transform our ceramic microfilters into nanofilters by depositing a film layer that traps and kills SARS-CoV-2.
i3S Health Innovation Prize - First Prize. This funding supported the development of SSL´s antimicrobial coating technology to be applied onto surfaces and air filters.
We will collaborate with University of Surrey on SPRINT-funded project to develop new catalytic monopropellants for satellite propulsion systems
EIC Attack COVID-19 Innovation Award. Won 1st place as recognised solutions to help tackle COVID-19 with our SARS-CoV-2 destroying Smart Coatings™ technology and Smart Filter Platform.
